March Madness

The entry fee is $5 for each of your entries. You may enter as many times as you wish.


Please, please, please fill out a  traditional bracket  first. (Short cutters to the next link leave ambiguities in their submission without knowing it.) Then please click on  submit a bracket  for each of your entries.

Some games are finished. You may still join anyway! Just toss a coin to select your submission for any finished games.


All entry fees go to the pool winner who is encouraged to donate 50% to CPAR. Please get payment to Steve or Interac your fees to me via: tomthebomb@bell.net


The scoring system incorporates bonus rewards for: high seeds; unpopular teams; getting the early rounds more right than your peers; picking the deep round winners. Don’t neglect the First Four! The scores will be higher than usual.

Pick as you would pick every year if you don’t want to delve into the math. I will do all scoring calculations for you.


The Math, in case you are interested in doing some modelling:

R0 = (SEED^0.7) * (U^(0.7 – 0/10)) * BASIC
R1 = (SEED^0.7) * (U^(0.7 – 1/10)) * BASIC
R2 = (SEED^0.7) * (U^(0.7 – 2/10)) * BASIC

Rn = (SEED^0.7) * (U^(0.7 – n/10)) * BASIC

BASIC = 2, 2, 3, 5, 8, 12, 17 (In the same order as the rounds.)

SEED = Each team’s SEED = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,  9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, or 16

U = (Total Pool Participants) / (Number of Participants who picked that team in that round)

R = ROUND (The First Four round is 0. The championship game is 6.)

n = The round number ( 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6).
